Anne Noble
Anne Noble is one of New Zealand’s foremost contemporary artists, her photography has been exhibited worldwide.
The images currently at exhibited at William Street are from her series Ruby’s Room, which features her daughter Ruby. The large close-ups of this young girl’s mouth explore how it speaks, tastes, smiles, learns and loves.
Noble's photographs question how our culture visually romanticises youth by associating it with innocence. Using texture and colour she presents an alternative view of childhood that is both playful and provocative.
