Lili Almog - A Room of One's Own
Exhibition: 13 February to 16 March, 2002
New Yorker, Lili Almog has photographed women in the most private of domains, their bedrooms. Drawing or writing with the computer she transforms her original photographs, moving across the surface of the image in response to the figure within. In some images she has digitally masked the women &endash; obscuring their real identity while suggesting a more lyrical understanding of the person behind the mask. Rather than simply document a moment in time, the resulting images describe an exchange between artist and subject and a disclosure of character.
