Lisa Tomasetti - Silent Breath
Exhibition: 23 February to 25 March, 2000
In her work Tomasetti is interested in state of mind and the ability of the human face to express this. These are women's faces which through carefully controlled lighting and framing appear cross between frozen film moments and Renaissance paintings. The use of blur lends universality to the images. They are dramatic and poignant, speaking to the viewer through the subconscious. Tomasetti says this work has surfaced out of strong emotions experienced this year in her life and that they depict the stillness which occurs after intense emotional experiences have passed away.
