Liz Ham - Photographs 1995-1999
Exhibition: 23 February to 25 March, 2000
Working in documentary mode Liz Ham continues her remarkable documentation of inner city lifestyle through black and white images of her friends. Located largely in suburbs such as Surry Hills and Newtown these photographs describe everyday life by placing people in the context of domestic interiors (kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms), workspaces, supermarkets, hairdressers as well as in the street. They embrace the clutter and paraphernalia of living as they affectionately portray people's relationships with friends, family and offspring. The expression of difference is central to these images, something allowed within the locus of city.
